Meet the Midwife
Brenna Kelley- BSM, CPM, LM
Welcome, I am so glad you’ve made it here.
My passion for this work began as a child when I learned about my own birth story. My mother was a home birth advocate who taught me that birth, more often than not, is a normal event to not be in fear of. I hope to help others find a deep connection to their pregnancy, birth, and their own birth story.
I obtained my Bachelors of Science & Midwifery through Midwives College of Utah where I also worked in tangent with local midwives via direct apprenticeship to obtain my degree and gain clinical experience. I am a collaborating provider with West Michigan Midwifery, working within a collective to help expand care throughout West Michigan.
I believe there can be a beautiful balance between honoring cultural tradition, personal experience, intuition and evidence within the birth continuum.
When I am not serving families, I enjoy playing in the waves of Lake Michigan, hiking, crafting and spending time with my husband & dog.

My Philosophy of Care:
Whether you are beginning the journey into motherhood, or you are a seasoned mama, we all have a birth story. Throughout our lifetime, we may develop an unconscious stigma on what childbirth is, or should be. In our society we have been led to believe an abundance of negative perspectives on childbirth. Birth as a beautiful transition into a new stage of life has not been expressed to us through media or through the influences around us.
Birth can be an opportunity to develop a relationship within ourselves. Within this relationship we can work to redefine and navigate the voyage into parenthood. By tapping into the many modalities of bodily and self wisdom, un-programming our negative beliefs on birth, and by reviewing evidence based research, we can find that birth is powerful and one of the most transcendental experiences we can have within ourselves. Tapping into this energy and mindset takes work, dedication, and time; but having a midwife on your side can help bring your goals to fruition.
Midwives have historically been at the forefront of family centered care since the dawn of time. Though the western world has seen an increase in obstetrics and hospital based practice, the majority of the world still utilizes midwives for holistic, low intervention, empowering care while drawing on obstetric counterparts when needed.
At Woven Midwifery, we believe every human deserves the chance to enter this world in a calm and peaceful manner. Additionally, we believe every family deserves to have options of where and who they wish to birth with, regardless of race, religion or income barriers. Within our philosophy, parents have the right to the birth they so desire, and the opportunity to acquire knowledge to make decisions based on unbiased information and bodily autonomy. We believe every midwife should honor the parent- baby dyad while doing no harm to them physically or emotionally- to act only in the benefit of the client who is trusting our team with the health of themselves and their child. Safety is woven within our philosophy; protecting mothers and infants will always be our top priority. We specialize in utilization of holistic modalities while understanding the need for lab collection, ultrasound technology and further consultation when needed. We thank you for respecting our philosophy as we respect yours.
